Device management — how your IPTV connection works
Every NANO IPTV plan includes one simultaneous stream. Here is how to switch between devices, detect unauthorized use, manage your dashboard, and set up multiple screens in a household.
Every NANO IPTV subscription includes one simultaneous stream. You can import your M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials on any number of devices, but only one device can play content at a time. This guide explains how the single-stream model works, how to switch between devices, how to detect unauthorized use, and how to get the most from your setup.
How your connection works
When you start playing a channel, your account's stream slot is occupied. The counter is per account, not per device or per IP address. It does not matter whether the stream is on your TV at home or your phone on mobile data — one stream means one active playback session.
What counts as a stream: Active video playback. Browsing the EPG, changing settings, or having the player app open but not playing a channel does not occupy the slot. Only actual video playback counts.
How to switch between devices
Switching devices is straightforward:
- Stop the current stream. Press back, exit the app, or power off the device. The stream slot is freed within 30 seconds.
- Start on the new device. Open your player app, select a channel, and begin watching. The stream starts normally.
You do not need to log out, deregister, or perform any special action. Simply stopping playback on one device frees the slot for another. The same M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials work on every device you own.
What happens if you try to stream on a second device
If a stream is already active on one device and you start playback on another, the new connection is rejected with an error message (typically "Too many connections" or "Maximum streams reached"). The existing stream keeps playing uninterrupted. Stop the first stream, wait 30 seconds, and the second device will connect normally.
The dashboard — see and control your active device
Your dashboard shows a real-time view of the active stream:
- Device name: The name the player reports (e.g., "TiviMate - Living Room", "IPTV Smarters - iPhone").
- IP address (masked): The last octet is hidden for privacy (e.g., "192.168.1.xxx").
- Connected: When the stream started.
- Current channel: Which channel is being watched, if the player reports it.
Disconnecting a device remotely
If you started a stream on your TV and left the house, you can stop it from the dashboard. Click Disconnect on the active device. The stream stops immediately and you can start a new stream on your phone. This is also useful if you forget to stop a stream before going to bed — disconnect it from your phone's browser.
Detecting unauthorized use
If you see a device name you do not recognize, an unfamiliar IP location, or a channel no nobody in your household watches — someone else may be using your credentials. Take these steps immediately:
- Disconnect the device from the dashboard.
- Regenerate your M3U URL from the dashboard. This invalidates the old URL — any device using it will lose access.
- Regenerate your Xtream Codes password from the dashboard. Same effect — old credentials stop working.
- Change your dashboard password to prevent re-access.
After regeneration, you will need to update the M3U URL or Xtream Codes login on every device you own. It takes a minute per device but restores full security.
Bandwidth vs connection limit
Two separate things control your streaming experience:
- Connection limit (1 per plan): How many devices can stream simultaneously. Your plan allows one. This is a server-side limit — it applies regardless of your home network.
- Home bandwidth: How much data your internet connection can deliver. A single 4K stream needs ~25 Mb/s sustained. A 1080p stream needs 5-8 Mb/s. Since you are streaming one channel at a time, your home bandwidth only needs to support one stream.
Both limits are independent. Exceeding either causes problems — the connection limit produces an error message; insufficient bandwidth produces buffering. Our buffering guide covers bandwidth diagnostics in detail.
Multi-device households — how to make it work
Even with one stream per plan, a household with multiple TVs, phones, and tablets can set up efficiently:
- Import the playlist on every device. The M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials are the same everywhere. Install your player on every screen — TV, phone, tablet, laptop. The playlist is ready to go whenever you need it.
- Set device-specific favorites. Each player can have its own favorites list. The kids' tablet shows cartoon channels; the living room TV shows sports and news; the bedroom TV shows entertainment. Curated favorites make each device feel personalized without needing separate accounts.
- Coordinate viewing times. If two people want to watch different channels at the same time, one waits for the other. In practice, this rarely matters — most households have natural viewing rotations (morning news, afternoon kids, evening movies).
- Name your devices in the player. In TiviMate: Settings → General → Device Name. Descriptive names ("Living Room TV", "Kitchen Tablet") make the dashboard instantly readable.
Vacation homes and travel
Set up IPTV on devices at both properties. Since only one stream is active at a time, you never exceed the limit. When you arrive at the vacation home, start a stream there. When you leave, stop it. The dashboard shows what is currently active — useful if you forget to stop a stream before traveling.
When using public WiFi (hotels, airports, Airbnbs), a VPN is recommended for privacy. It prevents the network from identifying and potentially throttling IPTV traffic.
How to set up IPTV on multiple devices — step by step
- Install your player on each device. TiviMate for Android TV/Firestick, IPTV Smarters for iOS/Apple TV/Cross-platform, VLC for desktop.
- Import the same M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials. Every device uses the same login. No per-device registration needed.
- Configure EPG on each device. With Xtream Codes, the EPG loads automatically. With M3U, paste the XMLTV URL once per device.
- Set up favorites per device. Tailor each device's channel list to who uses it.
- Test each device. Play a channel on each device (one at a time) to confirm everything works. Check the dashboard to see the device name reported by each player.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the same account on my TV and phone?
Yes. Import the same M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials on both. Only one can stream at a time — stop playback on one before starting on the other.
What if I see "Too many connections"?
Another device is currently streaming on your account. Stop the other stream (or disconnect it from the dashboard) and try again. If you do not recognize the active device, your credentials may have been compromised — regenerate them immediately.
Does browsing the EPG count as a stream?
No. Only active video playback occupies the stream slot. Browsing channels, changing settings, or viewing the program guide does not count.
Can I share my account with family?
Your plan includes one simultaneous stream. If family members coordinate their viewing times, one account works across multiple devices throughout the day. If you need two people watching different channels at the same time, each person needs their own subscription.
How do I stop a stream I started on another device?
Log in to your dashboard from any browser. Find the active device. Click Disconnect. The stream stops immediately and you can start a new one on your current device.
